Emmett is a native of Virginia and grew up serving in church alongside his parents in deaf and prison ministries. He studied counseling and psychology and holds a doctorate in Multi-Cultural Community Clinical Psychology with his research in the area of prayer and psychological well-being and mentored by Dr. Charles Kraft in healing prayer formerly of Fuller Theological Seminary. He has taught for many years in various colleges and universities in Virginia. He has served has also served in other ministries in California and Virginia in leadership and been ordained as a minister prior to starting Wellspring in 2009. He presently serves with his wife who studied at Life Bible College in California. It is their desire to facilitate others in their walk with Christ in a genuine and authentic relationship that is enriched with prayer and demonstrated by a Christ-centered, Spirit filled-life.
